Bentley Football standout wins Defensive Player of the Week

Sean Smith, a Junior Free Safety for Bentley College Football, has been awarded the ECAC Defensive Player of the Week for the second week in a row. Orignially from Andover, MA and a long-time CATZ-Acton athlete, Smith had three takeaways (tow interception and a fumble recovery) in the first 17 minutes of the 49-7 win over Saint Anselm two weeks ago. That same game, Smith recovered a fumbled punt to set up Bentley’s first touchdown and thwarted the Hawks bid to tie the game at 14-14 with an interception on the Bentley 3. The junior also had four tackles on the day.

Last week’s effort also resulted in Smith earning Defensive Player of the Week honors. In a Bentley loss at Bryant, Smith had a career-best 15 tackles (eight solo) and an interception, which he returned 16 yards.

The entire CATZ staff wishes Smith congratulations on his season’s achievements.
