Athlete Profile

Emma Eldershaw

Age: 26      Height: 5-5
Hometown: Dublin, Ireland
Sports: Tennis
Goals for next year: Just to reach my full potential and be happy with myself. I want to know that I've tried my hardest and don't want to give up.
Athletic Achievement: I've recently won a couple of Open tournaments, but my most memorable athletic achievement is that I hold a Norwood High School track record. I can't say that I've achieved a lot in tennis, because I don't believe I've reached my potential yet. But, as I work toward my tennis potential, I know that CATZ is playing a huge role in getting me better. Last month I won the USA Tennis New England 4.5 tournament which was a good start.
How you got started with CATZ: Randomly, I got a flyer after doing a road race in November, the Turkey Trot in Norwood. I looked in my post-race goodie bag and thought this is what I've been looking for to give me that extra edge.

Getting to know Emma Eldershaw:

Any pre-game or pre-practice rituals or routines? Superstitions?
Just focusing on all aspects of the game, staying calm, and taking one point at a time.

Most memorable Tennis moment.
When I beat the #1 girl in the Willows Open last year. She'd beaten me twice last year and I beat her the tournament before.

Who is the most influential person/people in your life?
When I lost my sister to ovarian cancer 4 years ago it was very difficult. I decided to focus on my tennis. I wanted to accomplish something for me and for the sake of losing her. This loss made me want to do more with myself because she was only 26, the age I am now, when she got cancer.

QUOTE FROM HER CATZ COACH:
"She is quick and graceful like a cat, but as ferocious as a lion during training and on the court," CATZ Coach, Mark Cinelli, LATC, CSCS
