How you got started with CATZ: Eryck Avila (President of A-Train Sports) told me about CATZ when it came to town. I had a knee injury and needed to rehabilitate. I think I was the first CATZ athlete in Austin.
Getting to know Cindy:
Any pre-game or pre-practice rituals or routines? Superstitions?
Before games I just try to calm myself down. I always pray before games. I either get really mellow or really energized, like by listening to Bob Marley.
Most memorable sports moment.
There are two: My last year in high school soccer I scored the winning goal to get to the playoffs. And then again on my club soccer team I scored the winning goal to get us to the state tournament.
What college do you hope to attend?
I have been awarded a scholarship to play soccer at the University of Kentucky. I knew when I visited there it really fit. I want to study Geology.
Specific academic goals or career choices in mind?
Hopefully I want to be in Cave Studies…a caver or a geologist. I would like to do that and also play professional soccer.
Who is the most influential person/people in your life?
I had to choose between cross country and soccer in high school and that was a really hard decision. I ended up choosing to play soccer, but I lost a lot of friends who were now in cross country, which had been my life. But I learned from that I had to make decisions for myself and not listen to what others were persuading me to do.
