Columbus Crew wins MLS Cup

Five CATZ athletes among MLS Best XI

photo

"I registered for a half marathon being held on February 3rd, 2008 and instead of my normal training schedule of "logging miles" I concentrated on the CATZ training sessions. Between Dec.'07 and Feb. '08 I did only 3 runs of 10-12 miles. However, since joining CATZ, I have religiously attended from 2 to as many as 5 sessions per week. During this time I have seen my "core" strength increase, my sprinting and recovery time improve. Well, I ran the Surf City USA half Marathon in cold blowing rain on Sunday morning February 3rd. To my surprise and excitement, I felt GREAT the entire race and turned in a Personal Best of 1:43:21 which crushed my previous best time by approximately 15 minutes! My next full marathon is in April and I can't wait to see how I do then! "

Getting to know Arianna Rose:

Any pre-game or pre-practice rituals or routines? Superstitions?
I have a lucky cardboard box with fun stuff in it like shoes from 6th grade and a mini-buddha. I also visualize the game, my goals and responsibilities before it starts.

Most memorable moment.
A long time ago the town team I played for was in a tournament with teams that were all 2 years older than us, and we were getting crushed. I wound up scoring our only goal in the last game and felt so great that I did the airplane all the way down the field.

What college do you hope to attend?
University of Virginia.

Specific academic goals or career choices in mind?
To go to college for sure. At this point I am really interested in becoming a landscape architect and using photography, which I love, as a major part of my career and life.

Describe a moment or obstacle you have had to overcome. What did you learn from that experience?
I was getting really frustrated during a game and it was starting to take over. I had to sub-out and collect myself and my thoughts. After the game, I reflected on how much frustration can really ruin a game and your decisions. At that moment, I made it a goal to manage that part of my athletic life.

Who is the most influential person/people in your life?
My mom. She is always encouraging me to strive for the best, and is honest with me about everything in our lives.
